Default Do NOT upgrade to new Pol alum Wheels!!!

The new pol wheel that comes stock w/800efi and 500le have a design flaw. The fake beadlock looks cool as hell but leaves a sharp edge at the bead that acts like a knife when your tire compresses over a rock. Steel wheels will take the hit and transmit the impact to the wheel and then the suspension. The pol alum never gives the susp a chance before cutting the sidewall. I have three cuts, one each in three separate wheels. All the cuts are the exact same measurement from the rim edge. i bet you will not see these on the 06. Buy the stockers and get some aftermarket . I paid extra for the new wheels because they did not come with the camo.Big mistake.

I would take it back to the dealer so he can see and do something about it.

I have and am waiting to see what will be done. Check your sidewalls and measure 5/8" from the rim and check for cuts I have three flats all exactly 5/8" from the edge. my last tire also has a cut exactly at 5/8" Again, I bet you will not see this rim on future models. Anyone that would like pic.s PM me and i will send you some along with light coming in from the rear"tool box" that leaks from going through puddles. My header missing a stud nut with oil around head gasket and rear rack missing mt. bolts that vibrate out! All this w/ 340 miles

Bummer, I think those new aluminum wheels are the best looking on the market. Hopefully they will just slightly dull the bead and keep them.

How much air pressure were you running? I had over 500 miles on the stockers on my 800 and never hand any problems. I was running 7-10 psi. If you run less than 5psi you will have tire problems.

Yes they do look mint, untill your 35miles from home on the side of a mountain with your third flat, stranded. I called the dealer and they said to run 5psi. the owners man.says 5psi. We are not part of the R&D team. Every first year remake has its issues. I'm ok with that as long as they agree to repair the shortcomings during the new model year. So far Pol. is an ostrich. "If we keep our head in the sand, maybe they will stop calling".......not this bird

As was stated earlier, watch your tire pressures. I'd get yourself a 90 degree die grinder (Walmart and Menard's sell some inexpensive units), mount a red 3M rol-lock disc on that puppy and make a quick run around the outer diameter of the rim. This should easily debur/chamfer/add a smooth radius. That way the tire cutting is solved, and you get to keep running those ever sooooo sweeeet looking rims.

Oh, and always be sure to wear some good eye and hand protection when working with those power tools.

And if using ANY grinding tools(die grinder, angle grinder, bench grinder etc....) ALWAYS wear at least a cheap respirator(cheap paper mask). If you could see the very fine metal particles that are in the air, it would astound you.
