I cut a piece of aluminum diamond plate to put over my rear rack. Before I had it coated with truck bed coating you get a Wal-mart but it wouldn't last over one ride and would peel off. Click here for diamond plated rack. Let me know what you think of the new rear rack.

It looks good. Is there a reason for having it though?

I added it for strength and looks. Where I have hauled alot of stuff on the rear rack it has scratched it up pretty bad. Plus the diamond checker plate will help keep stuff from sliding around.

Looks awesome....but I am really interested in the header. Did it give you any noticable gain? What other "performance" mods do you have that you felt?

Thanks, the header was a good improvement in low and midrange and helped threw the whole throttle. I'm thinking about ordering a White Bros. slip on and try it. I felt the Hot cam I installed gave me really really good gains and the 40mm carb also is a great mod. The heel clicker clutch with the team roller is a great setup for your clutch.

Well, that is neat.

How much did each pc of diamond plate cost including having it cut to fit each rack?
Did you cut the plate or did a fab shop do it?

This would eliminate all of the mud that gets down in the holes of the curretn plastic rack.

The rear diamond plated piece cost me $28. I took the rack of and scribed the outline on the diamond plate and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Looks good and you get a thumbs up for style but for the riding we do here in WV it wouldn't help much. How do you go about straping a small cooler to your rack since you eliminated all the holes in the rack. We we cut logs and stuff I constantly find myself strapping things to the center of the rack like oil jugs and ammo boxes with chains and so on.
