Engine cuts out when you let off throttle-TPS??
#1
My Uncle asked me to fix there 04 500 ATP for them. He said one day they ran it out of gas, and ever since it doesn't idle.
As I started looking at it, I noticed that it actually idles and runs just fine if you hold the throttle in a little bit, so its not realeased all the way. THere is a little play in the throttle before you actually start to accelerat, and if you hold the throttle a little bit its fine, but as soon as you let your thumb off the throttle and it comes all the way out, it drops dead.
Could this be somethign with the Throttle Position Sensor? ANy info would be appreciated! thanks,

Rather than trying to explain how the Electronic Throttle Control works, pop the cover off the ETC box on the throttle side bar by putting a screwdriver in each of the tabs around it. When it detects slack in the cable ("stuck throttle") the circuit completes and it kills the engine. That should be the problem. Polarisbob is right, this is remedied by taking out the slack. But you can check to see if this is the problem (which it probably is).
