05 gas tank vent
#1
Took my 05 500 out to Colorado last week from Indiana.
When I took the gas cap off out there, the pressure blew it out of my hand.
Took the vent hose off and it was clear but the plastic piece on the tank was closed off.
Heated up a wire and poked a hole in it so it would vent.
Now I smell gas when riding, maybe the seam on the tank cracked.

I believe there was a recall on some of the tanks. Check with your dealer.

I believe the tank issue has to do with the plastic over an extended period time not being compatible with gas. I did let a hand when my tank was replace not an easy one-hour job. It is my understanding most 05’s has this problem (unless your unit was in a very late production run). Initially my SN# was not listed which was incorrect. You may wish to double check with AC customer service.

Another issue with the tank. My wifes 2002 375 was leaking around the gas cap last time we rode. I had a hard time getting the cap off yesterday, and when I did the neck was torn into about 1/3 of the way around. Just looked up the price of a new tank and it is around $130.
