COPS ON QUADS!!!
#1
I was out the othe day, way way back in a swamp. As i come around a corner there were 3 police officers on atv's. I was VERY suprised to see them for to get out to this particular swamp is alot of work and alot of winch use. I have seen cops on the actual trails before but never way back in a muddy wet swamp. They asked for my insurance and ownership then they left. It makes me wonder what they were doing back there.

Hopefully they were there to enforce the public safety and enviromental laws, or investigate violations. The few who are doing the damage to wetlands are ruining the sport for us and future generations. I'm first in line to say that there should be enough swampy muck for us to have a crossing or to challenge/play in - but we can ruin all of it one wet spot at a time if its not managed. I hate having to use the word 'managed 'so much. Unfortunetly the words respected, conserved and appropriete don't get used enough.

Our county has had an officer assigned to offroad for wellover 5 years now. He rides a dirty bike, is young and rides like h*ll on that thing. He did the bike thing for sport before he got the job so he understands and is not a **** about things. Well, except for tabs on you bike or quad. Ticket, everytime no excuse. The WESTNET guys (the area drug task force) uses quads to get back into the MJ grows after spotting them from their helicopter.

Hey Crashin It,
Were they the friendly neighbourhood O.P.P. or was it the local police force in your area. I only ask since the O.P.P. are pounding the hell out of the don't drink and drive on your ATV around here (Kingston area) on the radio etc. We usually take a couple of beers with us, but not enough to be intoxicated over the course of a day. I can't blame them though - I used to be on a local volunteer fire department and wouldn't want to clean up the mess of an accident.
Thanks for the info - maybe we'll have to be more careful since they are advertising zero tolerance....
