CHROMED STEEL SWING ARM?

anyone ever chrome there steel swing arm on a ds? i am told it might crack the chrome because of the design? i have a new +12" chrome moly arm for the busa and would like to use real chrome instead of powder coat. you know that is my favorite color CHROME

ya I think the flexing of the arm may cause the chrome to peel or flake off and the difficulty of getting chrome to plate the tight corners and radius of all the joints make it not so suitable for an arm. I've seen em done they are just a lot of upkeep and don't stay lookink new for long. As often as you change/replace arms the appearance of the arm ( as the chrome flakes off) shouldn't be an issue as it will stay nice looking for at least 1 or two rides

When the swing arm was welded, was the swing arm immediately baked to remove hydrogen. If it was not then having the arm chrome plated will add more hydrogen into the welds and the chrome will prevent the hydrogen from escaping.
What may happen is called hydrogen embrittlement.
A-arms and swing arms are not chromed anymore because of the failure of cracking and separation at welds. Especially in chromoly steels.

think i might just have a couple arms chromed and as they break i'll try a few powder coated ones then maybe a copper or even a clay arm might be a good choice i'm such a chick? because my front Aarms are chromed i really want to plate the swing!! but with my luck i'll drop the arm befor ieven install it and it will snap in half
