sportsman 26 inch tires
#1
Did polaris gear down their sportsman models when they changed to the 26" pxts from the 25" tires? Is there a noticeable difference in power when putting the taller treads on an older atv?

I would think that the clutching changed. I'm running 27" tires on my 2005 700 EFI and they work great. I've had it up to 68 mph on a slight downhill with the 26" tires, can't tell on the 27's really how fast I'm going as the speedo is alittle off, had it up to 60 with the 27's, but not sure how fast that is going....

i have the 99 model and i run the 26" mudlights with the c-series rims and you can notice a difference some, but not that much, i mean if you are trying to do top speed, then yes the difference is somewhat noticeable, but the loss of a few MPH on top end is definantly worth it for the grip and traction you get. Assuming the speedo is correct with the 26" tires (That's a big assumption) then you are traveling 27 mph for each 26 mph indicated. So if you're showing 60, then you're really going 62.3. HTH.
