Why I buy Polaris
#1
I started off in the ATV world in about 1990 with an old worn out Suzuki quadsport. Later my ex and I bought a new Yahama Timberwolf and a Moto 4.
I was working at a bike repair shop and he just got a Polaris dealership. I had never even heard of Polaris before and I thought he was making a huge mistake.
I wound up putting the first two new 1992 Trail Boss ATV's togather out of the crate and at first I was not too impressed. They looked "cheap".
He sold the first two the next day and about one week later one of them came back on a trade in. The new owners kid wrecked the bike and did some minor damage and he got worried the kid was going to get hurt on the "big" Polaris because it was so fast so he traded the new Trail Boss for a small kids ATV.
I asked the boss about trading my new Timberwolf in on the Polaris and we worked out a deal. I brought my Timberwolf in and took the Polaris home and told him that I wanted to ride the Polaris that weekend to try it out before the trade was final.
I had never riddden a Polaris before except in the parking lot so I did not know what to expect from the handing and the belt drive system.
I got the Polaris home and took off on it that Friday night through a few trails and I was hooked. The Timberwolf and Moto 4 was a huge POS compared to the way the Polaris ran and handled. The belt drive did exactly what it was supposed to do and I was able to go places with ease that was difficult or almost impossible on the Timberwolf.
I could not believe there was so much difference between the Polaris and the other ATV's I had owned and rode before.
The next morning I called the boss and told him we traded.
There was a large group of us that rode every weekend and back them the 300 Honda was king of this area. Almost every Honda rider that rode my Trail Boss traded for a Polaris. I helped sell almost every new Polaris they got in for the next two years.
Since then I have owned several Polaris ATV's and I have never had some of the problems people complain about and I think that is because I know how to take care of them.
Today I have a 04 500HO and I love it.
Since I bought the first 92 Trail Boss I have seen all the other makes copy Polaris and some dom make one great ATV but I still like the Polaris better than anything.
I do admit that I almost bought a Kaw 650 and I know if I had done so I would have been happy but for now I will stay with Polaris.

LMAO..........It reminds me of my first Polaris. It was a 1988 Trailboss 250. When I got it everybody looked at it like it was some weird space alien to be feared. The Jap bike guys immediately berated it because of the CVT auto tranny, the floor boards and basically it must be junk because it's not a Honda, Kawa, Yama or Suzu.
The funny thing was........almost right across the board........after anybody rode it the response was always something like........WOW!!!.....that thing is pretty cooooool !!!. That Jap bike guys still didn't like to admit it though. BTW......I never had a problem with it.

My brother in law's '87 Trail Boss 4x4 got me hooked. I used to be in the dark until I rode one and now I am hooked. I used to think that if it had a CVT, it was junk - I could not have been more wrong. That thing would go anywere... no other ATV back then (and not many until recently) had power going to all 4 wheels. Even back then they had great ground clearance too.
