Tie rod end rubbing stock size tire side wall on one side
#1
1999 SP 500. I have replaced the outer tie rod ends with the newer ones. The left side tie rod end rubs the tire side wall. I have replace the factory tires with Goodyear Mudd Runners same size though, 25’s. On the right side tie rod end there is about ½--3/4 inch gap between the rubber boot of the tie rod end and the tire side wall. Everything seems tight in the front end and I have replaced the lower steering bushing.Has anyone have or seen this problem with the tie rod end rubbing the tire side wall on one side and not the other. Thinking about installing a pair of one inch wheel spacers, but would like to know if there is something wrong with the front end that I have missedThanks for replies

I got a 00 400 explorer and had the same problem. I went 1" wider on some s. swampers. One side rubbed and the other didnt. My tie rods are stacked, one is higher than the other. Since the higher one is futher away from where the wheel turns, it seems they beefed up where the tie rod connects. This made the tie rod end closer to my wheel and caused it to rub.
I ended up buying 1" spacers for the front. Dosent ride as good at hi speeds, but im not a speeder.
Hope this helps
