05 SP 400 Electric Fan
#1
My wife and I can ride out of our yard to some trails. After we return, we leave the key on so the electric fan can run/cool. Usually we remember to turn the key off so the battery won't run down. I just forgot to do it and killed my battery. Is there is fix that will alow the fan to run with the key in the off position? All cars do this.

I have an '04 Sportsman 400, after riding for a while then parking the machine, the cooling fan will come on without the key being on or even in the ignition, I assume there is a temp sensor that tells the fan to run until a desireable temp is reached. Anyway, I don't think you should have to leave the key in the on position unless Polaris changed something from '04 to '05.

My 04 Sportsman 500 will not run the fan when the key is off or the switch is in the "off" position. I normally just shut it off and let it cool down naturally or let it sit and idle with the fan on. I just put a Hi-Lifter temp gauge on it - best thing I ever did !! I can now monitor the machine's temperature and be sure the fan kicks in at about 195.

I plan on putting on a temp and oil press. gauges. Great idea from what i've read on this forum. If you could tell me where you got yours that would be great. Thanks, Bill. I'm in Canton, but do my four-wheeling in the western U.P..
