Polaris Dealers? whats up
#1
Okay, here is the problem I see with Polairs dealers.
1) I bought all of the below at a Polaris dealer in southern Indiana.
2) I purchased a Sportsman. $ 7526.00.
3) I purchased a trail boss. $ 3604.00.
4) I purchased a utility trailer $ 1000.00.
5) I also purchased $ 1500.00 in accessories. All of the above was purchased in one day.
6) I purchased $ 1600.00 in tires & wheels.
7) I have purchased all of the maintenance items as well over the last 3 years. Estimating $ 600.00. I have a bunch of stuff in stock @ my house.
The total comes to $ 15,230.00 I spent with them. I also coerced 2 friends in buying 2--500 sportsmans as well from them for a total bill around $ 15,000.00.
Now then we went there to look for a used bike for the girlfriend- they did not have one. Oh well. We then drove 40 minutes went to Lagange Ky to Waynes Polaris. Man o Man they had all kinds of used bikes & tons of new ones. Based on used prices & new prices she decided to buy a new 2005 400 Sportsman. They gave us an excellant deal, it was in stock& the people were great to work with.
Here is where the problem lies, The 2005 --400 sportsman had a ECM recall. Since the southern Indiana dealer was closer I asked them if they had the part in stock. No they did not. I asked them to see about ordering it & I told him I had a trip planned in 5 days & I wanted this changed. They said no problem, we will call you back & schedule it in. Well I waited all week ,they didn't call me back.
So I took it to where we bought it in Lagrange KY, they met me at the trailer & drove it to the service area, 30 minutes later the recall was done.
So I was riding with my friends the other day & I told all of them about all of the problems I have had with this southern Indiana dealer. My buddy told me the Sales guy called him & asked him where I bought the new 2005 -400 Sportsman. He said he didn't know. The sales guy said it wasn't from me so I ain't working on it. I said huh, that SOB never called me back to schedule it in.
Bottom line, you would think that after spending my $ 15,230.00 with them they would treat me a little better than this but that just shows you who is reputable dealer & who is not.
Oh well I guess I will just stick with a good dealer like Waynes Polaris in Lagrange, Ky for all future dealings. It is a shame people have to act like this isn't it.

If it's a recall from Polaris, they can't refuse to do the work. They can, as you found out, take their sweet time about it. Sounds like you've found a better dealer. You might want to occansionally stop by the old one, check some parts/quads out, and when they ask if they can help, just tell them you're just getting prices and you've found a better place to do business.

I too regret buying my 600 (new in '03) from where I did. Once I started dealing with other dealers in my area, I soon realized what a bunch of aholes my local dealer is. When the 800's came in, I stopped in to look them over, they had one outside that was fairly dirty, I asked about a test ride to convince me to consider maybe trading in my '03 600. the salesman bluntly said "Anybody looking at one already knows they want one and dosen't bother with a test ride and we have to keep the miles/hours off them." I replied back,"Well if I do buy one, it won't be here ever again!" I havn"t been back there since. Other area dealers when asked about test rides, welcome you to try them out.

Waynes is AWSOME!!
I bought my Predator and 700EFI form one dealer, my 500HO from another, and the Predator 50 and Trailblazer from Waynes. They are by far the best to deal with. At the first dealer, it took 6 1/2 weeks to get my 700 back after the front suspension was damaged in a wreck. Keep in mind, the billable labor was only 6.5 hours and the parts were not backordered.
Every bit of my service will be going to Jeremy at Waynes. Too bad I didn't know about them sooner.
GITRDONE, I would definitely complain to Polaris about the dealer refusing to do warranty work. First, it is idiotic since they do get paid. Second, it only assures that you won't be back.

Sorry to here about your troubles GITRDONE,sounds like you made the right choice though. It may be a little farther but let them suck on your dust when you drive buy because they just lost a valuable customer.
Be sure to call the owner on your next purchase and ask him to come out front so he can see the polaris you didn't buy from him.
Best of luck.
