Ok you flat drag boys, I need a setup!!

Alright I just heard that the morning of my first sled race of the season, K&t Performance is going to use our pits for some atv drags. I am just figuring they will be running a fourstroke class as well, and well....I run hills and need a setup. We will be running the full 500' of our pits so I hear, we will be starting in sand for about 20 feet then grass, so it will be slick for bikes. I will probably run both with and without nitrous, so gearing will change with that but? On to the bike so you know, Stock bore stroke, stock head, 12-1 comp, HPR 5 nitrous cams, vortex, filter, drag pipe, 25 shot nitrous, lectron 46hv, ported intake, guessing around 80hp on the bottle. 2 over swinger, works shocks, thats about it. Come on you guys, spill you guts will ya?

What tires are you thinking of running? You gotta get out of the hole but with the least amount of top end sacrifice. Paddles will hurt your topend but with a sand launch thats what I would use. I wonder how deep the sand will be. Maybe some 4Snows would work.

I agree with Meaner, it all depends on how deep the sand will be on whether or not to run an all out paddle or maybe some 18-paddle brats or maybe even some snows. But, you also remember that in a flat drag you will need to get the suspension right aswell. I would recommend lowering the bike a little and try to get her to launch as hard as it could in second without fighting the frontend the whole time. But, with 80hp you might even want to consider a wheelie bar. But, the suspension will go a long way in flat drags.

put rear suspension to full soft and put some 250R front shocks on and let her rip. the rear being soft will absorb the launch keep from Wheeling. the 250R front shocks or equivalent make your a-arms parallel to the ground. JM2C

The pits are about 4 foot deep with sand, so it will be a full sand start. I am worried about the grass though. I think my first shift will be on the grass, while it will be dry later in the day, the morning dew usually has it a little damp. What speeds are you all pulling in the 300'? I want to get my gearing setup so I dont run out of gear on the top, but pull right to it at the end.

Wow gearing will depend on tires. Id say 1 down in the front for the 2nd gear starts. You wont run out of gear in 500ft for sure. Yeah shock set soft and 1 down with some Haulers you should do good.

Meaner, I am running 14-43 now, and pull third gear starts. But I have heard rumor if I spray they will throw me in the open class with all nos bikes, including two-strokes, BS! Anywho if thats the case this will be all motor and 2nd gear starts. Are you guys hitting 4th by three hundred feet? I have 20-22 inch 8 paddles. I will probably need more paddle right? Oh and Meaner, I had that package in my truck forever, seen it today and sent it off 2-3 day. Sorry I didnt get it to you sooner.

Jed,
I would stick with the eight paddle. 500ft is long enough that the extra paddles could bog you motor down at higher speeds. The 8 paddles should give you a stong launch and develope good wheel speed really quick and thats what you want on the flats. Also strip as much off that thing as ya can weight wise. Just my .02 worth.
Ohhh, Where are the races at???

Demon, there at the Weber county fairgrounds, inside the track. If you go to the track grandstand, you would look across the track at the drag pits. So if in 300' I dont hit fourth, I probably wont be hitting fifth in 500' eh?
