spark arrestor
#1
I just bought a ds650 a couple of weeks ago and I need to know if I have a spark arrestor. I heard that they come stock with a spark arrestor and the person I bought the quad off of said that it is all stock and it is and does not look like anything has been messed with, but what can I do to see if I have a spark arrestor?

If it has the stock pipe, Chrome plated with two outlets coming out of it. you have a spark arrester. If not take the exhaust end off and look inside if there's a screen inside you still have a spark arrester. Now the best thing to do is get rid of it and get an open end cap or an aftermarket pipe and bigger carb and bigger cams and bigger valves and bigger piston and bigger...... Sorry got carried away!

Did you remove the arrester? Did it help? I have another bike on the way I was considering taking off the arrester and cutting off the original outlets and enlarging the holes about double the size. Then weld in new outlet tubes to match the new size holes and have it rechromed. What do you think, better flow and stealthy?

well all i did was cut the entire back side off of the endcap..spark arrester and the downsized tubes, now its just 2 tubes going out.....yes i think it did help allot and i like the stock look when it actually is not...it also sounds good. I rewelded back on everything one day to see what the difference was and it was a big difference it woudnt pull my top speeds as easy at all with all the spark arrestor and stuff back on the inside. I have seen stock ds650s and they arent very close to mine...i have diff gearing and stuff but ide say you should really try it.
