I'm going to go with a friend on a weekend ride, he has a Sportsman 500 and i don't know a whole lot about utility quads, what kind of power does it have? thanks

 

plenty of power.
but compared to what?
it has less than a corvette, but more than a chainsaw.

 

they have really good power,they wont make your nose bleed or anything but they are really impressive.

My brother-in-law has a 500SP. I have a 400 Xplorer. I can outrun him, both in acceleration and top speed. However, load them down, or start pulling something heavy & he walks all over me. It has a LOT of power for a quad, the chugging, pulling kind more than the zippy, racing kind. His sportsman (and Magnum 500) has more pure grunt than any other quad I drove. Never drove a Grizzly, yet, but been around them.
