Default Sway Bar Disconnect

I noticed some of you have the sway bar disconnect. What does this do?

Disconnecting the sway bar gives the suspension a greater range of articulation when rock climbing, mudding or traversing any large obstacles. It really allows the independent suspension to operate without restriction. The more time your tires spend on the ground the more traction you get, obviously. But they're intended to be reconnected during speeds over 30mph or so. If left disconnected at higher speeds the quad will feel a little unstable.

if you do a search in the forum, you will see our tests on the disconnect, especially jefffoxsr's tests which were thorough....In 99% of the time I would leave it connected and not mess with it, it has very little advantage over stock, as a matter of fact it is not recommended in 99% of your riding....even at 5 mph it doesn't work very good...the only and I mean only advantage it would have is if you are crawling very slow over rough terrain and I think that would mainly be for flat or downhilling.....

I rolled my atv going down a too steep of a hill, going up hill would cause the rear end to sag and cause it to be worse and could come over backwards.....going downhill may be an advantage as the rear end would soften up and keep it lower...but i havne't tried it on anything really steep...

so my advice, don't put one on

I took my swaybar off totally (I took out one of the links) a few months ago and love it. The rear end used to ride way too stiff (I'm about 140 pounds) so I asked the dealer if they had softer springs, but they said that polaris said to just disconnect the bar. It is much tippier at high speeds and has a lot more understeer, but the ride is much much better, in addition to the added flex on uneven ground (what I'm usually riding on). I think I'll reinstall the link in the winter as I like to slide around on the ice, and it tilts a bit when you do that without the bar connected.

You can try it yourself to see if you like it. Just take out one of the vertical aluminum hex links that are on each end of the swaybar (only need to take out one). Try it like that for a ride.

IMO it is much better ride than with it. I also rarely go above 35, and the addition of my mudlites really ruined my high speed ride quality anyway.
