Kymco Mongoose 250

Wondering if anybody has experience with the Kymco Mongoose 250. Its approaching the price of a Honda or Suzuki 250, but is water cooled with auto trans and my wife may prefer the auto. I read a postive review somewhere online where the unit was raced and rode hard for extended period of time with positive results. Just looking for first had experiences. For that matter any opinions on the Kymco vs Honda TRX250 vs Suzuki 250Z would be appreciated. Bike is for the wife to ride mostly dunes. thanks.

For me to buy one of these Korean or Chinese made machines, the price would have to be a LOT lower than the price of a Honda or Suzuki. I feel that the Japanese companies have a well known long term reliability record. I don't think there are enough people out there riding Kymco's yet for the word to get out whether or not they are reliable so you are taking a bigger risk in buying one of these, IMHO.
I'd take reliability over a water cooled engine any day.

I don't know if you've decided on a Kymco or not. But my neighbor had one he bought for his wife and he said it did excellent in West Virginia. When he brought it in the mountain to ride if she stopped on a hill we'd have to get her back to the bottom for a head start because it didn't have the power to take off. It was bad enough you could smell it. Might could've been something wrong with just the one?
