IMS desert tank, gas cap/vent hose Q's
#1
Had to copy this from the gas cap thread as there were no responses for awhile. The vent hose is what's referred to below.
I just ordered the IMS desert tank. For those of you already running one, does it have the hose in question, and does it utilize the stock gas cap? Seems like the ones I've seen pics of had a vented cap. Just want to get rid of that silly hose. Seems they could have made it atleast two feet shorter and achieved the same results!
Any other issues as far as mounting the larger IMS tank, or does it just drop right in? Been impressed with IMS quaility so far so I thought I'd go with the tank too. Wish I could say the same for the AC items I added.

Good one. I hijacked yours so I had it coming. I do recommend Godfathers though, if you can find one. Best I've ever had.

JMAC, does it also come with it's own petcock, or just use the OEM in a different place? Glad it comes with it's own cap because the only ones I can find for the DS or the Predator are the billet ones. No Bling for me, put too many hours on them out here in the desert. It would be sand blasted in no time.
Does the OEM fuel line need to be extended?

You reuse the petcock. You need to get some new fuel line. It needs to be longer.

It's close to a "drop in" from most aftermarket tanks that I bought for my rides....
However, MAKE SURE to rubber mount the two rear bolts at the seat junction.
I've seen two (one mine) tanks break (crack) at the left side bolt mount... and leak fuel. I called IMS about this and they said to send the tank back for inspection... but in the meantime my Bomb was stolen. Oh well... now I have another bomb with the same tank. We'll see if this one does the same thing.

Recieved it yesterday. I got the black one and was expecting a better finish than what I recieved. Oh well, would've gotten scratched the first time out anyway, came already done for me!
I don't know if it's a new thing or not but they also sent me about 20 inches of fuel line, and the extended bolts for the rubber mounts. Little bit longer than the stock bolts. Directions are pretty clear and precise about the wiring being moved out of the way and any other little quirks that I guess others have run into along the way.
