I want to get a larger capacity gas tank for my 250r. will I have to get a longer steering stem if I use a ims or clarke 3.5-4.5 gallon tank?
thanks in advance.
ron
p.s. does anyone run a paul turner type 6 pipe on their r? planning to set up quad as a woods bike. any advice on what mods to use would help alot.

Ron;
I have an IMS 3.6 gallon tank on my R and I am running stock length stem and it works, but I would much rather have a +1 taller and maybe +1 forward because the handlebars do hit the tank before the steering stem stops hit. I didn't know this and bought an ARENS stem before I got the tank. I should have researched.

I am also building my R for woods and have a Fatty which I want to get rid of and get a Turner type 6 which Duncan racing sells for $199.

Make sure I build your quad for torque, which it sounds like your doing.

Make that quad handle good before you make it fast. When you can stay in the gas and it goes straight through the bumps and is predictable, than start beefing the motor up. I did this in reverse and I am still working on my handling. I redid the motor and it is so fast I can't stand it for more than 1/2 hour in the woods.

Remove the throttle spring in the thumb throttle if you still have one and cut the carb spring to about 5/8 its original length and put it back in without stretching it out and you will love the effortless thumb throttle pull.

Good luck, I am still learning to but have talk to numerous GNCC guys about this.
Nick
