300ex HMF versus stock system
#1
I raced my friend who has a HMF slip on, and I could beat him with my stock system and intake. He has a K&N and stock jetting, whith the HMF sport system. Why did I win? I was actually considering getting this pipe because I heard good things, but now I'm getting suspicious.

Your freind has a 300EX too? He is lucky his quad even runs if he has that exhaust and K&N but still runs stock jetting. If he ever jets that thing right before he blows it up, he'll beat you.

Absolutely right,Scooter86, that 300ex with the filter and pipe is running so lean, it will never make decent power, plus the motor will run hot, and possibly be damaged if it is run much longer like that. I would go up at least 2 sizes on the main, possibly one on the pilot (makes starting easier) and check the plug, and make any adjustments to jetting after that. With jetting to match the intake and exhaust changes, should be a totally different race, the only drawback is the stock cdi, a modded 300ex will rev better, but hit the low rev limit a lot quicker. An aftermarket cdi, with an extra 1000 rpm on the limit, will let you get the extra power out, made a big difference on my son's modded 300ex.

thats what I thought. (so the HMF is a good pipe?) The only thing I dont like about those limiters is it sounds like your ride is going to explode. Other than that the power is probably better with the +1000. BTW, k&n is an accident waiting to happen without the outerwears for it. (For those who don't know)
