Default Trouble with polaris 600

Can anyone help me out...? I have been fouling plugs lately, choke is never used, filter is clean. So I replaced the fuel and filter thinking it was that, also took the carb out and looked at it. Everything seemed to be working well, and it was clean. Choke was not sticking and once I put it back together the engine keeps shutting down unless I give it a little throttle. Has anyone seen this before?

sounds like your fuel screw is to far out, or your idle screw is not in far enough. I would adjust the idle air screw first.

Cool, thats what it was I fixed that, now any reason why I am fouling plugs? I have the carb jetted at 147.5. I mostly ride in elevations of 7 to 10 thousand feet. Thats what the dealer thought it should be at. I rode about 200 miles before the first plugs fouled, then they fouled almost immediately two times after that. I checked the choke to make sure it was not sticking but I am thinking that the jetting may need to be changed. I do not have much experience with small engines. I would appreciate any other advice. thanks

is there anything obstructing flow? mud dobber nest in intake snorkel(I have had this happen. lol). it takes alot of fuel to foul a plug on a 4 stroke I don;t know what your jets should be so its really hard. I see partsland lists the main jet size as a 155 so it is probable leaned out for altitude.

week spark can foul plugs as well, same with incorrect heat range are you sure they are correct?

It sounds like your carb needs sorting out. You sould get years out of a set of plugs. Ask over at atvquadsquad, the Polaris boys have a lot of experience jetting for altitude.

I run NGK BKR7E (6097) plugs in my 600 with no problems.

Welcome to the Connection.

Good luck

Nothing is obstructing flow...I clean it after every ride if I get in the mud. I asked for a plug that runs hotter but I am currently using the hottest plug, it takes a lot of fuel to foul a plug? I am a little stumped maybe the jetting is the key, but the dealer tells me that is probably not the case.....I think I will try a different jet
