Default Progressive Shock

Iam looking into purchasing progessive 512 shocks for my Rubicon, Has anyone had any experiance with these shocks? If so are they worth the money? I am a big guy and about 90% sold on the idea. Any suggestions on where to get the best deal on these, or does anyone have any they would like to sale?

Thanks for all your input with my questions.

Selway,

I am a pretty big guy also and have Progressive Suspension 512's installed on my Rancher 350 ES. I have a lot of railroad track and plowed field driving with lots of high frequency vibrations so a good shock has been on my list for some time. I installed the shocks about 2 months ago and have been really pleased. I carry a 50# dog and dog box on the rear rack in a special carrier bracket I made, so lots of weight and lots of vibration. I set the rear on to the stiffest setting and the front ones to the middle setting and find the ride to be better than the OEM shocks from Honda. I also carry a passenger on some occasions and find they weight distribution to be comfortable and controllable. I know these are one passenger vehicles but sometimes it becomes necessary.

One note, I had a HighLifter lift kit on the Rancher and the Progressive Susupension Shocks are about 1" longer than the Honda OEMs so I removed the lift kit and they fit fine. This is all set on a ITP ATRs and I find the handling and ride very nice. In my opinion they are worth every penny. Hope that helps.

Selway,

Yeah I stayed with stock sized tires. I looked at the over sized ones and felt there is just not the necessity for my style of riding. I do a good bit of ice breaking and mud running on my Rnacher but it is all in under 2' of water so there was no need for more ground clearance.

Since the Rancher only has a single shock in the rear I recall it was around $400.00 + Tax. If memeory serves it was $169.00 for the front pair and $139.00 for the rear shock. I looked all over the web and finally bought them through my dealer because with my discuont at the dealer I could not beat it on the web and delivery was next day through the dealer. Enjoy the changes this willbring to your ride.

Thank You, I looked on the web as well and my dealer cut me the best deal at 415.00 total. most others wanted around 5 bills. Althought I did get my tires online at a great price. Who knows, damned if ya do and damned if ya dont. I guess it is nice to have a freind at the dealer. Anway thanks for all your input. I'll let you know how the tires and shocks tear up the rocky Mnt's. The snow is supposed to fly around 4000 ft in the morning.

My buddy put one on his old Honda 300 (rear). The thing is absolutely terrible! Maybe he somehow got the wrong one or something, but his old blown shock was better.

I have had great luck with Works Performance on many machines.
