Screw the pilot jet in until it lightly seats, then back it out 1 7/8 turns. And yes a kit may help you out

I think those have a little short intake manifold between the carb & cylinder right? use some spray carb cleaner or starting fluid while it's running to check for air leaks. also, even if you've cleaned it up there could still be some really gunked up stuff in the tiny passages in the carb. see if you can find a known good one to try or get some really small wire to try and help clean them all out.

im almost positive there is nothing stopping it up, if it idles for a little while it floods out, you can take the plug out, clean it, put it back in and it fires right up, you recon it could be the coil getting weak

My 110 ATC is doing the same thing. The previous owner removed the mix and idle screws, and it ran ok. My guess is that its getting too much gas due to wear in the carb, and have a rebuild kit on order. I'll post how it works out.

Definitely get a carb kit, it should solve your problem.
