went to prime the oil pump and i could not get it to hiss on the third try the hose blew apart
where did i go wrong? was the oil pump still primed? how can i tell if it is primed? man this sucks...
i did not take the hose off the bottom of the oil reservor would that cause it to stay primed?

Yep I would say the oil pump was primed. NO need to prime if you just change the oil and filter, only time you need to prime is if you remove a hose the owners manual should have clearly stated that.

Ouch insult to injury thanks a lot...
Since I had pulled the pull start several times I thought that I had pumped out all the oil in the system.. But was not sure so I thought better safe than sorry. This was my first time changing
the oil. I was changing it over to 5w50 syntec like cornbread had suggested.
Well if nothing else people in the future who use search can learn from my mistake..

the hose that blew is the return hose right. so wouldn’t the pump still be primed?
because the hose blew after the pump. sorry for bringing this back up i just want to make sure i get it right.
