Be more specific, what are you doing? Whats you budget?... the first thing I usually do to anything is put an exhaust on.

Default main thing i need first for my trx250ex

this is my girlfriends bike im going to just put on the end cap that will open it up a little and make it sound better.. that is what my girl wants but im trying to find more ideas..i was thinking nerf bars but im looking for more for it too

First, take care of safety and protection issues, then worry about the motor later. Here is what I did on our 250.........

Nerf Bars (absolutely essential........they will save someones leg someday!)
Full chassis skid plate (Maier plastic is cheap and very tough)
Bumper

The little 250 has terrible stock tires. They make the bike a little tippy, and it pushes a little in turns. Replace them with some Holeshots ASAP (I run Holeshot XC's).

Later you can do a UNI air filter and aftermarket exhaust.

i hope u didnt buy a new endcap...just cut the baffle off the old one and put it back on.
