Default heated grips

About 65% of the riding my Wife and I do is at temperatures below 60'. Early mornings in Eastern Oregon are often 40' or below even in August. My Wife is a hard charger and absolutely lives to fire up her Rubicon and see some things. She is tough and never complains but every once in a while I hear "my fingers are a little cold". I just bought a set of WPS heated grips for her machine. Less than $50, complete with all wiring, switch's, grips, relays, and only two wires to hook up. It might be something folks would like to look into............Tass

Default heated grips

Tass,

Good advice. I am not familair with the WPS heated grips. I had the "HotGrips" but the grips are way too hard so I don't recommend them. I noticed Rocky Mountain sells a pair from Kimpex now for $42. Wonder how soft the grips are?

Personally, I order the Kimpex grip heating kit from Rocky Mountain ATV for $20. These are thin heated membranes that are installed underneath of regular hand grips. They draw 3 amps of power. I have these installed on all my quads and it makes a huge difference. My thumb still gets cold and I have been thinking about getting the Moose thumb warmer too for $27. You wife sounds tougher than me.

By the way, I did a search and found the ones you mention for $38. Of couse it will be in line with what you paid once you pay for shipping.

The cost through Outlaw Motor Sports in Enterprise Oregon was $36.95. I tried the membrane type and by the time I got them all together I had messed something up, one worked on high, one worked on low, after about 4 hours neither worked....hahaha. This pair looks pretty much fool (?????) proof. I guess I can handle it .LOL. The thumb warmer sounds good too, guess I better find one of those.......My Wife is determined to ride.......I quote......."I'm gonna ride forever till I can't ride no more"............Tass

I do more riding for fun in the winter. Heated grips are a must below zero and nice above that with thin gloves. My hands just never get cold anymore.

Been very happy with the Kimpex heated grips. They were around $55. Would recommend to anyone unless you have small hands as they are thicker than the stock grips. I like them better than the stock grips, more comfortable for me. Photo on my page.

I have seen some great set ups with separate ***** for hand and thumb.

Shirley and I have found that the fall and winter provide some views and experiences just not available in spring or summer. One attraction is that general tourist use and travel is over and we are not disturbing each other, in this area Forest Service road and area closures force more and more people into less and less area. We have found that protection from cold and wet enable us to totally enjoy the trips...I have been looking for a "lap blanket". They were common in the days of horse and buggy and early cars with their poor heaters.. I have been able to find all sorts of "tents" that you basically strap to your body, canopy's that turn the ATV and the experince basically into a car ride which separates us from the experience and separate us also from several dollars. I am toying with the idea of several strips of Velcro and an old army
blanket. I do not have it working yet but heat is captured from the engine, water and snow is kept from legs and lap and when you want to get off and look at something its easy to shove aside...........Now if I could just come up with something that would eliminate the dust in summer. .Tass

A way to keep your nice grips you got already and use handwarmers with them is adding these sticky heated handwarmers on the bars with the grips off( they stick on) wiring them up and then putting your grips back over these handwamers with new glue....had these on all my machines and they work great.

Yep, these are manufactured by Kimpex. I get mine through Rocky Mountain ATV for $20.
