Default Help with winch location?

My buddy wants to buy a cheap winch. I was thinking since he has an aftermarket bumber from brp, would it be possible to mount a small winch to it somhow on his 04 outlander 400. This bumber is from brp but not the one you get on the ext versoin.

You are trying to mount it to the actual bumper? Why not just mount it with a frame mount kit (usually warn or moose etc have the mount kits for just about any quad) then if needed put a roller fairlead on the bumper so it does rip it up.

I used to like my superwinch t1500 I had on my beartracker (LONG time ago) but that machine didnt weigh much. I would say he could get buy with a superwinch 2500 or look for a cheap moose winch (warn tends to be pricey but are nice).

Been a long time since ive talked about winches!

my bro is puttin a superwinch on his gf outty 400, and he bought the winch brackets and roller fairlead from brp, this machine also has the std steel bumper from brp(not the XT bumper), the roller fairlead bolts rite up which is nice, but everything else so far has to b modified somewat to fit/work rite, the winch bracket is made for a warn winch, superwinch doesn't fit so he had to make a plate to add to the winch bracket to make it work, the switch mount had to also b custom, not sure bout other winch mount kits, but if ur buyin a brp kit, do urself a favour n buy a warn winch, make things so much easier

You may or may not like it but I moved my winch on my 400 Outty to the bumper. 2.5 Warn that it came with and the bracket practicaly lined up perfect. if you can weld or have a buddy that can its simple. Take a look at my picture. It's now out of the crap I just have to hook up higher on trees if I have to and it's now easier with the plow.

Check out Montana Jack's reciever system, that may work for him and allows the winch to go front and back.
