1996 Yamaha Timberwolf HELP!!!
#1
Hey, i recently baught a 1996 yamaha timberwolf 250 2x4 used from someone in town for $800, for something to beat around in in the winter in ny it runs perfectly, but about 2 days ago i lost my keys. I need to know what i can do to fix this, i found an ignition switch at a local dealer in town but its 59.99 for the part with the key and 2 keys, i have a 2004 bombardier baja 650, and a polaris sportsman 700 so i really dont want to sicnk money in it and was wondering if i could hook up a toogle switch for on off rather then the key switch and if so, how to configure the wires for it. If anyone can help me i would appreciate it alot, if the only was around this is to buy the new switch i guess i will but i ont want to. Or if i can unplug oneside of the switch would that work? And how many plugs g into the switch on the wheeler itself? 2 or 3? im asking cuz my wheeler is at my buddies abt 10 miles away and its a little hard to go look right now myself, thanks alot!

This info is probably too late to be of any help. But yes, you can bypass the ignition switch. What you will need is a manual that shows the wiring schematic in order to know what wire or wires to connect to a toggle switch. And you may need more than 1 toggle switch to make everything function like it should.
