Default my first trx450r ride review

ok today i finally got to ride a 450r 05' and lets keep in mind I ride a lt250r. And let me say damn!!!! The 450 is completly stock. There are some things I didnt like about the quad first the way it doesnt like to be ridden at lower speeds....the motor makes a horrible knocking noise when you are just putting around, second thing is the handlebars...you got to def change them they feel really weird, the quad is just too quiet you need to put an aftermarket pipe on them things to have some nice sound..It was kicking the Shi* out of my boys warrior all day. The things I liked was how easy the kickstarter was on it, and I couldnt believe how fast the damn thing is...The front end would lift up without even trying, altho i think my quadracer can still beat it in a 300 foot race I will let you guys know how that one goes over.,did I already say that 450 was fast? well Ill say it again... quick as hell that thing is. Looks real hott the way that the bike is styled...I would have to change the tires and move the sprocket size down one in the front for trail riding ...but it is a mx bike lets not forget...all in all I liked the quad but I hate that low end noise they really need to fix that...mabey with more timing advance in the computer or something.

Glad to hear you like it. I wanted a 450R before I ever bought my first Raptor but couldn't get past the kicker. If I was to get a 450 today it would be an 06 450R with the HRC kit.......I hear they run like a ****!........

Did they fix any of that on the '06 model. I found a '05 for a real good price but have to wait a few months before I'm buying. I wonder difference would be noticable.

The 06 screams and it also has a better gear ratio than the 05 It has a longer swingarm so it doesnt wheelie as much But the motor noise is more on a 06 than a 05

the 06 is more race oriented even though i like the e start, longer swingarm and stuff. i really dont think they should have lowered 5th gear with 1st though. 1st gear -yes. but not 5th. i still think it should be a 6 speed b/c when i top mine out there is plenty engine left to pull another gear. also for 06 i think they should have kept the oil cooler.
i think over time, the 04/05 engine will be more reliable...

glad you got one and like it. i was suprised with how quick it was for a 4stroke. when i took it down the road (i know know im not supposed to) for the 1st time it made my eyes water. no bike did that except my banshee which tore many up. my 250R is really fast and snappy and has suprised many people, but it will spin when the 450 just hooks up and takes off. overall the 250R still handles better though.
