Hi all just going over a routine check of my quads and found a weard oil leak on my 06 H1 and it is a good one to. It is not coming from a cover or a gasket. Near the water pump housing just under that over a bit on the magneto cover there is a small hole almost like a wheep hole of some type is is running out of there, my 500 has the same hole and of coarse my Prowler and both of them are dry. Has anyone seen anything like this before or can anyone see if they have the same problem. It dont look like a screw or anything goes there it is not tapped out nor is anyother one of my quads. When the H1 is running some times you can even see air bubbles with the oil leaking out this sort of wheep hole. Any ideas ? Thanks Doug

 

take it in. it should be under warrenty. my friend has had his in 2 times . both needed rings, honed and other things done to it. they said if it happened again they would give him a new motor. arctic cat took care of him.

I would suspect a seal is leaking behind the cover and the hole is so if it leaks into the area under the cover it drains out and doesn't screw up the mag.

 

Thanks to all that have replyed, I have a update. Found out that the rubber oring on the waterpump housing had a gouge on it from assembly when being installed into the magneto cover and there is a oil gallery right behing that cover almost like a oil bath for the water pump drive gear and it was leaking past that O ring and through that weep hole the quad has 7 miles on it my prowler has about the same and the prowler will do it once in awhile makes me wonder like the O ring could be a bit narrower on the thickness so they put in a thinner one and it fit perfect with no leaks. So time will tell if the prowler does it also it does in a bit every now and then, All take in mind both engines were built around the mid to end of October and so maybe they may have a run with bad orings.
