My oil smells like gas...Normal?

noticed when i did my first oil change that the oil smelled like gas. was wondering if this is normal? checked it again a little while after the oil change and it still smells like it. thanks

gas will leak past rings,,,seated properly or not
Sounds like a sticky needle valve that wont close all the way and fuel is just running into the head.
do you shut your fuel off when you arent riding?
If left unfixed,,,you could do a lot of damage. The gas basicly washes the oil off the cylinder walls and provides no lubrication.

yep, always shut the fuel off. any of you guys ever burned your old oil? i did when i changed mine, we had a few fallen trees to burn up so i dumped it on there and it went up like gas. thing is, there doesnt seem to be any excess fluid in the crankcase. thanks for the help

first oil change on mine was the same, that's why I changed it at 10 hours, smelled heavy of gas. after switching to AMSOIL 0W-40 Formula 4-StrokeŽ Power Sports Synthetic Motor Oil there is no more gas smell.
