Help. New 06 trx 90 won't start
#1
My son's new trx90 seemed fine...until tonight. It is a week old. He has been on it twice for about ten minutes each time. We tried to start it up tonight and had trouble. It has an electric starter. After successfully starting a few times, during warm up idle, it kept on quitting. Sounded like it was idling too low. It eventually would not start at all. Did I kill the battery trying to start it so much? I read the manual on this topic. Do I have to recharge the battery? How do I recharge the battery? I do not have a charger for this specific battery.
Help please.

If you think the battery is dead, you should be able to push start it (dead battery or not).
Be sure the key and kill switch are on! Put it in ~3rd gear, and have the kid sit on it holding the shifter up to engage the clutch. Then have him let it go of the shifter when you get the quad moving at a descent speed.
These things are REALLY cold blooded, so I find that the choke needs to be full on for a cold start.

He have the 06 Honda also. This mini is VERY cold natured. The choke has to be on full choke for it to idel at first. You still have to blip the throttle to keep it running for awhile. You can go down 1 plug size for the cold months it really helps. You might have fouled a plug. Does the plug fire when pulled from the engine and grounded to the frame. Try that. We fouled 1 right in the shop before we bought it home. The mechanic said they fill the engine with some kind of fluid so it stays lubicated till it's ready to be sold. They didn't have all this drained out and it fouled a plug. I would try the plug first. It's something simple. The Honda is 1 awesome mini which will give you very little problems.they are tuff and can withstand anything!

yhp,
Not too sure how to get your '06 Honda running. If you try the suggestions for the other folks and it still won't go, you might want to get your dealer to look at it. Being so new, I'm sure its still under warranty.
As a minimum, I'd recommend you buy at Trickle battery charger. While doing a walk-about in my local hardware store the other day, I noticed the selling price of trickle chargers have dramatically dropped. They are well affordable, even for a financial poor family like mine. For trickle chargers, there's 3 different things to look at. One is the volts is will charge. For example, 6 or 12 volts or both. Mini-quad batteries are 12V. Most trickle chargers are 12V, but do confirm before buying. The other area is its chargine rate. For example, 1A or 1.5A. It it were me, I'd spend the extra $5 and get the MAX 1.5 Amp charge rate. The other feature to include is "maintainer / Float mode". To me, this is a good feature to have in a trickle charger.
To view the trickle charger that looks like mine, surf: http://www.redhillgeneralstore.com/A53584.htm
Note: Once you buy a tool like this, you;ll have it for 10+ years. Well worth it's average 22-38 dollars / 10 years = $3.00 year.
Hope this helps as well....

I own a 06 TRX90 also and I can vouch for the engine being a cold natured little jewel. In all fairness, this same engine back in the 60's was just as bad.
As for any other problems? None!
