secondary helix and clutch buttons
#1
Does the helix in the secondary clutch ever wear out? Mine is getting grooved. Also, has anybody else ever turned their clutch buttons around like my FSM says can be done? I've put up a couple pics of the helix and buttons at http://photobucket.com/albums/c288/j.../ATV%20clutch/.

I couldn;t figure out how to get my buttons turned around. how did you do it?
also if the helix has no sharp edges or grooves in it it will be fine. however remeber that the teflon coated helixes and rollers are to reduce friction. the smoother the surface the less the friction. It depends on whether you want a runner or perfect bike they do wear over time.

Conig-
I could not figure out how to turn around my buttons either. They are curved so they fit only one way. The helix definitely has grooves in it that you can easily catch with a fingernail. If you look at the pics I linked above, you can definitely see the grooves in the helix. Also, the buttons are worn completely flat on one side. Maybe it's a good time to upgrade to the roller secondary??

With a grooved helex it will ruin your new buttons in no time. You can smooth down the rough spots on the helex and get some more time out of the new buttons.
