how do i lose wait on a 400?
#1
I am wanting to shave wait on my 03 trailblazer. Is there anything i can cut off or custom fab to make it lighter? I am pretty good with fabing metal and things. I dont have too much money to spend but i want a lighter quad. Any help?

Aluminum wheels and smaller lighter tires.
Take starter off and get rid of battery, get starter and battery eliminator kit.
Trim plastic
aluminum sprockets
get rid of skid plates
aluminum silencer/ aftermarket pipe.
never fill gas tank over half way.
here are a few things to do................pick some and go..............
good luck...........handycap

You should be carefull when lightening a quad as to not compromise its ridability. Unless you are thinking of racing. Polaris puts alot of stuff on you dont really need for it to run/move. Baisicly the above mentioned stuff is the most common. You could remove the oil injection w/ a block off kit also. That ditches about 4lbs i think. basicly any aluminum parts you can find are good, you could take your floor boards off and just stick with the foot pegs, if you consider yourself a proficient metal worker. Aluminum parts are generally pretty cheap. People on here have nerf bars for their polaris machines hopefully they respond to your thread as there are much more knowlagable people on this forum than myself. Good luck to you.

It all depend on what you intend to do with the quad. Doing a chromoly rear subframe can shed you 10- 12 lbs
Ive put mine on another diet this winter. Re-did the steering post, tie rods, made an aluminum fuel tank, cut down the seat. ( seat ways 9lbs) I hope to have mine under 250 dry.
Oh yeah, loose the rear chain guard disk. If you can!

Well i already have the fenders trimmed, pipe and silencer,if im trailriding should i get rid of the skid plate or not. Im not sure about the starter eliminator because i have a few compression booster parts on it and im not sure how hard it would be to start in the winter or when it is cold.

read this thread.

in addition to the above.
rear sprocket gaurd 4.5
battery box. 8.5
clutch intake and exhasut tunes. 2pounds.
the big plastic skid plate is completely worth less. so you might as well ditch it.
the oil injection tank and pump dry weight about 5 pounds. the tank itself doesn;t even weight 2. so its nice to leave inplace and use as a spare gas tank if your going for a longer ride.
