more top end on my warrior
#1
I just bought what i believed to be a 2000 Warrior with maxxis razr tires, a fmf exhaust, and the front end has been widened. It is a blast and i love riding but it does not have the top end speed that i expected. It is a 5 speed but i have read that some are 6 speeds, is this why i do not have the top end speed? What are some cheap mods that i can do to make it faster. Also, when did they switch warrior's to be 6 speeds and not 5? thanks.

I cant help ya with the 5spd\6spd question.
As far as adding top end to it, you said it already has exhaust, so go for a cam, ported head with big valves, big bore high compression piston, bigger carb with an intake and no lid on the box.
You may even add a tooth to the front sprocket to gain MPH.

Umm... I think there were a few 5 speed warriors made in the 80's, but a 2000 should definitely be a 6 speed. To gain top speed, all you need to do is get a bigger front sprocket. What size rear tires do you have? Let me know, and i'll give you a suggestion for the best sprocket size to get the most top end.

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/ep...ior_small.aspx <<< wont let me link it for some reason.
Just a link to the Yamaha site with a brief summary of the 1987 Warrior specifications. It was a 6 speed.
