Hello there, Im rather new to my new atv, and i need to change the belt. Can anyone provide directions and or pictures on how to change it for a 04 sp700

 

remove the 4 floorboard bolts. remove bolts around cover. hold floor board out away from cover. remove cover. remove bolt from rear pulley paying att to where spacers/washers are. slide rear pulley off. to help get new belt and pulley back on you may have to push/stuff the belt in the rear pulley some to get it back on no special tools needed

 

hey colt2245p, there's no need to remove secondary clutch, just stand behind the 4-wheeler,crab the belt closes to the secondary clutch and pull up and backwards at the same time and slide the belt off. to put it on put the belt on the primary clutch first, then start it on the secondary , with the 4-wheeler in neutral turn the clutch in the direction it normally turns and the belt will roll right on, just like putting a chain on a bicycle.

 

why do you think you need to change the belt???

 

yeah ive done it that way before but i thought it might be easier for him the first time to take it off either way works fine just my 2cents

 

i hear you,some people are imtematated by taking those cluctches off, plus i didn't know if you knew or not,just trying to help..lol wayout, out...............
