Default sunl 90 fluid chang problem. NEED HELP Please

I pulled a bonehead & need some help. Despite being mechanical by nature, I'm not an engine guy. I recently bought a Sunl 90 atv for my son & had heard that I should change the engine oil. I unscrewed 1 of two bolts (the smaller one) as it was leaking some type of fluid... so I figured that it was the oil drain bolt. Out popped a spring & then some type of cylinder thing. Just a little bit of fluid came out of it so I almost panicked thinking that we had been running the atv on almost no oil. I noticed a little silver cap with a screw top on top of the engine & figured that's where the oil went, so I dumped some 15-40 (the recommended engine oil) into that spot. I am an idiot!! I realized right away that that was for transmission fluid or gear oil or something. I don't know how to drain it out (except for the fact that a bunch of it started dripping out of one of the seals). I also don't know what the bolt with the spring was to. What fluid should go into the hole I put engine oil? Will it hurt the engine that I put the wrong thing in? I have found the oil dipstick since & changed the oil, but I'm scared to run the atv until I found out how bad I might have messed things up. Also, there was a little bit of fluid that came out of the hole where the spring & cylinder was. What kind of fluid was it & where do I add more? Anyone help, please!!!!

The plug with the spring and plunger is the timing chain tensioner. Just put it back the way it came out and you will be fine. No fluid needed for this. It gets the oil from the crankcase. The screw cap on the left side is nothing. That goes to the stator. There should be no oil in there. All of it should leak out because there are 2 drain holes on the bottom.. Look down the hole with a flashlight and see how much oil is in it.

Thank you 2manytoys, you just made my day!!. You are right. the oil that I put under the screwcap seemed to leak out, but I just thought that maybe that was a worse sign that I had done damage.

Thank you so much for your help!

What a great forum, & with people that care!

Default Darned Timing chain tensioner spring

My Brother tried changing the oil on my son's Sunl 90 and lost the spring and the little "cup" that that centers the spring on the drive rod. Does anybody have a clue where I can buy those items? and help is appreciated.
Thanks, Ed
