Default Honda TRX200SX Rear End

I have a '86 Honda TRX200SX and my chain kept coming off the sproket so we took a link out of the chain and it was too tight and then put a new link back in but the chain will still not stay on the sproket because my rear axle will wiggle back and forth knocking the chain out of line. Does anyone know if these axles have a bearing in them that could have gone bad causing the axle to not stay in place?

Yes there are axle bearings. If you can move the axle back and forth w/ the rear wheels off the ground, the bearings are most likely the problem. When you were playing w/ the chain, did you try moving the chain adjusters? If you want to takle the axle bearing yourself, buy a Honda OEM service manual. They more than pay for themselves.

Yes, we tried the chain adjuster but couldn't ever get it to work because the the back left tire would push forward because of the axle problem causing the sprocket to rub against the chain guard on it.
