how do you tell what year yfz 450 it is?
04-05 are practically the same. THOUGH, there are ways of finding the differences. IN 04, the graphics were of course different, and it came with the standard greenish steel shifter and rear brake pedal. It also has a plastic plug on the right side of the motor, where the decompression linkage would go on the dirt bike. Its up above the header, near the top front.
IN 05, it came with different graphics, and came with aluminum shifter and rear brake pedal. It also has (instead of the plastic plug for the decomp), a molded over permanent cap in place.
THose are the only ways to really tell for those years. I dont think you could tell the seat difference.
In 06 they have new graphics, but more noticably has a completely new swingarm with cam style adjustment, a dual piston rear caliper, aluminum front and rear grab bars, a LED rear tail light, a MUCH thicker seat with silver coloring down the side, and if you got blue, the a-arms too are blue. If you got white, they are silver, aliong with the rest of the frame.....which is different then 04-05 as the white one had a candy apple frame.
In short, if you want to quickly see the difference in 04-05, then look for the shifter and brake pedal. If you want to see the difference between the 06 and the 04/05 then look for any of the above, as its quit obvious!!
