Default Another LT80 question from the newbie

Okay got the new electric starter on today and when I went to start it all it did was crank over. I had to choke it and then un choke it then hold it wide open to get to run. Once it starts it runs great. If I shut it down it will start right back up, but if it sits for a few minutes then it is back to playing with the choke and throttle. I just picked this LT up a few days ago and was able to start it almost every time with the pull starter but that damn thing did not catch all the time so that made the pull starter a pain in the butt. I need to tackle that project on another day. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm still learning on these things too....but I'd start with taking the carb off and cleaning all the passages good.

Default Another LT80 question from the newbie

Thanks, that is one of the things that I was planning to try. Right now I am just slow charging the battery so that I have a good battery. I think I need to buy a new battery because this battery looks old. I really need to pick up a manual before I start to really start to tear this thing apart. Oh, speaking of that the rear brake spring that holds the pedal up came off while I was doing the starter(missing cotter key) and I can not seem to get that big spring back in the right position so the pedal droops a little. Once again thanks for all the help.

Get the manual, it's worth the money. The first time you use it it will pay for itself compared to an hour labor charge at a dealer. Before buying a new battery, take yours out and check the water/acid level. There should be 2 lines on the battery, a full line and a low line. I have saved 2 batteries on my 2 of my 5 pre-owned quads I have bought just by refilling the level with distilled watter. (charging boils the water out)
