Has anyone purchased the new Qwiksilver Carb for the 400EX yet? Has it performed better than stock? How many clicks and what needle is your jetting set at? Is it worth the money? Just curious!!!

Just got mine last week. The install went really well. The part that takes the longest is grinding away at the inside of your thumb throttle housing to allow for the additional movement. Of course, this is not a problem if you get the twist throttle unit. The carburetor itself fits perfectly. Your gas tank will sit on the idle adjustment tool which Edelbrock has told me is not a problem.

The factory jetting was pretty much perfect for my bike. I went one click richer on the idle but that is it. My plug has never looked so good.

The main performance difference seems to be at full throttle, so I think it is going to take a trip to somewhere like the dunes for me to fully evaluate. I have only had it out once so far, and that was for a really short time. The engine does seem to pull the upper RPMs better than with the stock carb.

One note concerning the speed increases shown on Edelbrocks Web Page. I spoke with them and was told that the 12-15mph increase was seen on a chassis dyno. Therefore, that was with NO AERO DRAG. The true top speed increase is certainly not that significant.

My initial assesment is that the carb is a good quality unit and it should be making more power for me in the upper RPMs.
