Edelbrock is developing a QuikSilver kit for the DS650. It is suppose to be available in about a month. Hopefully we can get it with the pumper series carb.

For those of you that have never heard of these carbs, they are great. You can read about them at: http://www.edelbrock.com/motorcycle/index.html

Yes! It will be a pumper series. I can't wait.

By kit, they mean taking an existing pumper series, making the cables, boots, etc. that fit a DS. And of course, figuring out the best jettings for the DS. Yes, they are going to have dyno charts for us.

I didn't ask about a dual carb setup, I thought I read in another posting that there wasn't enough room for dual carbs on the DS.

I am guessing they will use one of their 40mm ones. Not real sure, since their size isn't a straight comparison to a Mikuni.

One their site, they say a 38mm will flow 10% more than a 40mm Mikuni. So, I figure a 38mm or 40mm from them would be close. This is probably one reason they get more HP, the smaller diameter = increased velocity thru the carb.

A dual qwiksilver carb may be possible. Edelbrock said they were going to get the single carb kit out first, then look into a dual kit. They said from looking at the DS, it appears there is enough room for dual qwiksilvers. Cool.

The complete kit will cost about $470. This is for a "electroless nickel finish". That is the only finish the carb comes in.

Also, he said dual's were out. Not enough room between the frame rails.

They are doing testing today. Suppose to have some numbers next week. Hopefully some dyno charts.

$470! That's about $100-200 more than the same carb for other models!

What would the advantage of duals really give us?

If it was a 2 cylinder, I can see duals really helping, but I don't know for a single cylinder.

Size:
Other carbs need to be larger to flow the same amount as a QwikSilver. However, the larger the opening, the slower the velocity, causing slow acceleration. A 38mm QwikSilver outflows a stock 40mm carb by 10%. quoted from edelbrock's site

What are you going to order?

A little more info on the QuikSilver. They have tested the 38mm x 40mm. (These are not round like other carbs, they are oval).

This carb only produced 2hp increase, and 3lb torque over stock. It did increase throttle response a lot, turning their DS into a wheelie monster.

They are now working on the next size larger, 40mm x 42mm(I think).
