Default DS vs YFZ450!

Ok, this is NOT a pi**ing match. My buddy just bought a new YFZ450 and we went out riding today for the first time. We tried to drag race but the spot wasn't the best, a bit short and kind of rough but we did manage a few decent runs. He got me off the line easily, no surprise. My problem was getting stuck shifting from 2nd to 3rd a few times but once I got that down then it was no problem. We are both intermediates at best so rider skill was about even. When we finally found a decent flat stretch I found I could catch him in 4th and we were about dead even at that point but he clearly got the jump on me each time. I hit a few wheelies (not on purpose) that kind of slowed me down a few times. I think he was taking it a bit easy since his YFZ was brand new. I kept hitting the rev limiter in first, second and third gears, didn't have enough road in front of me to find it in fourth though LOL.

Anyway......we were just having fun, nothing serious. My buddy was surprised how quick the DS is considering it weighs almost 50% more then his YFZ.

the ds is heavy buuuut its fast. now if you would hwve kept the front down and shiffted better( sooner to stay in the power band& offf the rev limit) you clearly would have spanked him like a redheaded step child. you already caught him while he was up front... if he thinks he beat you... HE'S IN DENIAL.. I have these same fun times with my friends as well.. 1 preitor 500 w/ big bore kit & 5 kfx 700's they take off the line but quickly get disraced..did i mention that me & machine out weigh them by at 150lbs friendly competition is always a blast.

P.S. the YFZ proably doesn't ride like a cadilac either.

I prefer to ride utilities so don't put as much seat time on the DS and only drag raced one other time. It took me a few runs to get the shifting better, I found when I got on it and shifted quicker it didn't stick between second and third but I also found I had a harder time keeping the front down LOL. On the occasons I kept it down I kept right with him. I think he was surprised when I caught him each time though, all in good fun. He needed to get it broke in anyway.
