Headlight bulb problem - 2002 Kodiak
#1
Hi,
I own a 2002 Kodiak and last year one of my headlight bulbs burnt out. After close examination I noticed that the bulb fell into the headlight assembly. I made several attempts to remove this bulb with a long probe with a sticky end. I finally gave up and placed the new bulb into the assembly and left the old bulb inside.
After a long ride this weekend I noticed that both bulbs have fallen inside also. These bulbs come with a steel collar that is spot welded on and locks into the headlight assembly. These bulbs aren't cheap either.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
And if so, how did you get the old bulbs out of the assembly?
And is their anyway of preventing this from happening again?
Thanks
Friggs

The bulb is soldered to the collar . If you ride with your light switch in between hi and low to make both come on at the same time,it will actually melt the solder and that will happen , and if you normally dont you may have by accident one time . 1ST get the old bulbs out I know its a Biotch but elect. tape and a small screwdriver will do it , I did it. Then replace the bulb. In high or low make sure both filaments are not lit at the same time.If they are you need to check the wires to that bulb to make sure they are not melted together. Replaced the wire if they are. You can also just check it with a tester , but you have to buy a bulb anyway. good luck.
