centrifugal clutch question
#1
Ok tore apart the 200d type 2 because I thought the clutch was slipping. I bought a new clutch plates, but then noticed on the other centrifugal clutch, the drum had grooves from the clutch shoes. I ground the drum to get the grooves out like you would on a brake drum. The grooves were not too deep, and the shoes still have their grooves in them, but I could see a little discoloration on the drum from where the shoes were slipping in the grooves. my question is am I ok by just grindind the drum? will they still slip? How much clearance should I have between the shoes and the drum. And also how can you tell if the shoes are wore too much. the way this bike acted before I tore it apart was the you would take off and start moving, and all of the sudden you could feel it grab, just like the clutch slipping and then grabbing. Also though when you climbed a small sand hill, it would feel as if it was reving out but it would slow down. The wheels would not stop turning though. Could part of my problem be the other clutch also? I am going to replace it, but I really would like some input on if grinding my drum is going to help. I am just wanting this bike to be able to go up hills. I t is my wife's bike and she only weighs 97 lbs, and I know that a 200cc bike should be able to climb hills, because my cousins suzuki LT80 used to be able to go more places and climb bigger hills than this one can right now.. Please give me some input. Thanks, Preston

well I would have to say that you most likey need in clutch plates and fibers, Most of the time when I have taken off the centrifical clutch ones with alot of time will look like yours. Ya go ahead and sand the inside of the drum, If the shoes are blue in color then I would replace them too.
