Default Changing Clutch on 2005 SP500 ?

Saw this on another thread with no replies but I am interested in it, figured someone here would chime in. Would a primary clutch from an '06 SP800 (geared lower?) fit onto a "05 SP500 with a clutch kit installed improve bottom end and mid-range?

Thanks!

You can install an 800 clutch on a 500,but getting it to work right with a 500 rear clutch might be a different matter. To start of with what belt would you try to use? Both systems use different belts. Better off just keeping the clutches designed for it and installing a clutch kit for the 500. Have had people come into the shop that had mixed up clutches wanting me to get em to work right. All I could tell em was to get the right clutches for it.

Thanks old polaris tech, I'm not looking for trouble so I will leave well enough alone.

It would be cheaper to just get a clutch kit installed if you want more bottom and mid then a entire clutch off of a different machine.

I've had good luck with the EPI kits. QSC makes great kits as well. A big tire/mudder kit will give you more low end pull. Always use Polaris belts!!!
