WOW ! what a bunch of information to be obtained on here. I purchased a 2003 LT80 for my son for Xmas and he stated racing it shortly after, he is 6 years old and hearing impaired, he has a very aggressive riding style, he tried the dirtbike thing to be like his brother but prefers to be on 4 wheels, the quad is new even though its a 2003. I managed to pick up a FMF pipe, wider wheels, nerf bars and some A arms for all $200 i thought it was a deal but then again i am new to quads........ I see that LT80 is the man around here and knows his stuff, my question is, i know from racing and wrenching on 50s that the clutch was a huge player in power delivery, is it the same for the LT80? .........................LT80 can you email me your clutch recommendations and phone number to discuss some modifications.......................... Is it me or does the FMF pipe make noise than go? altitude 6000ft temps, vary 30-100
Thanks for the help

Hi and Welcome to the ATV Connection forums.
The thank you for the vast amount of info is appreciated by me and all the others that have expieremented/tinkered/invented/fabricated, and shared the results.
Ok, to answer:
The LT80 isn't the same in the regard of extra speed coming from the clutchs. In fact they work quite well with everything stock.
Speed is achieved thru a gain in RPM's. Cylinder/head work does that The clutchs are then modified to work WITH the motor.
The FMF eh....It makes great botom end but flattens out in rpm fast. I do have a guy w/my motor that runs a FMF. He seems to have made it work.It is possible to gear up (because it grunts so well) to achieve the speed.
I prefer a stock or Trinity pipe.
It's been a while since I had a FMF here and I didn't get to expierement with the gearing. Hopefully some day I'll run across one to try the gearing thing.
My motor w/stock or trinity pipes isn't broke..I hesitate to fix it. LOL
Have fun reading and learning.
