Default 2006 H1 Problem

I own a 2006 H1 that I bought last September. I have about 220 miles on it. While riding yesterday, the atv started to make a grinding noise - I could feel the front end pulling. I initially thought that I had something stuck in my brake. About 1/2 mile later I heard a big pop and figured whatever it was had let go. The noise stopped only to quickly come back. While inspecting the bike, I noticed greased leaking out of the front end (I didn't notice the first time I inspected it). I was able to drive it out (about 3 miles) to get it back on my trailer and to the shop. I am waiting to find out the details of the damage. Anyone else experience a similar problem? What could have caused it?

Matt

Default 2006 H1 Problem

Perhaps the Diff Lock was not totally disengaged / engaged. I also own a 06 H1, 108 miles on it. no problems yet other than you have to make sure it is in gear. At times it seems like it is in gear then all the sudden you hear the chain / gears not fully engaged. The dealer says it will go into and stay in gear easier after it is broken in. sounds funny to me but we'll see. Also I had to put on the 2 extra hose clamps on the oil cooler pressure lines. They did blow off and I lost a little oil, hasnt happened again since the clamps were installed.
My brother has an 06 prowler and when in diff lock both front wheels would not turn (like diff lock was not working). After my dealer made a call to the higher ups at Arctic Cat it was said that although it is rare it could be that during assembly the front shafts were not fully pushed into place. (there is a lock ring on the ends of the safts that need to lock into place) We took the front wheels off, took the spindle nut off and used a block of wood and a hammer and gave the shaft a couple of hits and the shaft did pop into place. So far since we did this he has had all 4 wheels working when in Diff Lock .
I would like to hear what they tell you caused this problem.

That is a new problem to me. Only things I have seen with the H1's are the oil line coming off (be sure you have TWO clamps holding it in) and some engines that are blowing head gaskets.

On another note, Arctic Cats are also known for an occasional machine that doesn't have the diff lock set up right. It is a simple adjustment you can do without heading to the dealer. Just tighten the line by the diff. Good luck

The dealer replaced the front differential rather than rebuild it. They said it was a manufacturing defect but did not go into any details. I have been riding twice since the repairs and have not had any further problems. The only other problem I had early on is the fuel line to the carb was leaking at the hose clamp. I replaced with a different type of clamp. Where are these oil lines that should have 2 clamps?

On the oil cooler, right behind the Radiator.

On my 06 H1 the pressure lines are what needed the 2 hose clamps mine are the left hand side on the radiator and the line goes down just below the oil filter, it is the bottom hose.
My fuel line leaked at the carb when I first got my H1, we replaced it with a new tighter fitting fuel line, installed an inline fuel filter while we were at it and put on a new smaller clamp.

Then put another on that same line right by the filter. Go to your dealer and talk to him about it, there was a Service Bulliton put out on it last year and he should have that info, and give you the clamps for free. Good luck!
