i jus recently purchased a 2002 700 twin and the speedo on it does not work and i was wondering how fast it goes i noticed the speedo only goes up to 60 but on my friends 04 600twin the speedo will read up to 70 and when iv driven it it goes about 70 so i take it the 700 is as fast if not alil faster so can any one tell me how fast the bike goes in mph

 

I have an 05 700EFI and it runs around 60mph range.

 

I had a 02 700 and it ran about 64.5 on the GPS, flat ground and still wind.

 

on my '04 i've had it up to 68-70ish, i dont know about the '02's.. i would suspect them to be a little bit slower, but not much..

the 02 700's are known to be slower than the newer machines, they were clutched differently in 02, which was changed in 03. that is why(generally speaking) if you line up an 02 and an 03 and drag, the 03 wins(more times than lost).
