Default Quad dies when I shift into reverse?

It's O.K. if I hold the reverse override button but as soon as I let go the engine dies. Same thing in two wheel drive! I'm still having problems with the speedo jumping all over the place , could the two be related? Is it my speed sensor or something else?

my scarmbler does the same exact thing... it will only run if i am holding the override. I think it has to do with the reverse rev limiter, or as a result of not enough battery power because mine only does it sometimes, and then soemtimes it will stay running.

On the Scrambler you can unplug one of the wires on the reverse limiter(cant remember which one) but try each one until it doesnt die in reverse.May work on the Sportsman too.

I'm going to phone my dealer and see if it might just be the speed sensor. I'll post the results when I find out.

Did a search on "dies in reverse" and found two hits. One was by you "ftwflh" in which you stated "remove the black wire from the rev limiter and your problem should go away" . I will try this as well as cleaning the grounds on the circuit board and get back to you.
Thanks for the help!

Garrett pull the hood off the Scrambler and the box on the frame one of the leads out of it has a black and a gray/pink wire unplug the black.
Try unplugging to black one on the Sportsman too.If the rev limiter is bad a shop will replace it and you can disable it fo nothing.
My previous post was for the older Sportsmans but it may be the same on the newer ones.
