Default Banshee Crank Seal

I have a 96 Banshee that smokes om the right side. I have been told that this is a common problem with the Bansheewhen the crank seal has gone bad. Can anyone verify this for me? also I am a mechanical person and think I might try this repair myself if I could get some input from others to know more about the project. I would be thankful for any input.

If your compression is good it is more than likely the crank seal. The only proper way to put the crank seal in is to split the cases. I have seen some people cut the center groove off of the seal and put lock tite on it and get away but not always. The seal has a ridge built into the center of it that fits into the cases and if you try to knock it in without spliting the cases it will cut the ridge off and one backfire will blow it out.

You can do a pressure test to see if a crank seal is bad.Mine smoked more out of the right side ,it was a bad float valve making the right cylinder run richer than the left.Once I replaced the float valve and set the float level the problem was solved. If your right carb leaks out of the overflow when the sheee is just sitting thats what I would check first.
